It’s Beautycon time again AKA my favorite time of the year! Between this and last month’s tea festival, I have a ton of awesome content ideas coming! I hope you guys are as excited as I am! Since I enjoyed the hauler package so much last year, I decided to repurchase the same package. The hauler package is created for my fellow shopaholics. This ticket allows me to enter the festival at 10, whereas the others are let in at noon. The extra time is super helpful for hitting up the big brands because the lines are still long but way shorter.
The biggest difference is that this year, I will be attending the event with my girl, Megan and we also caught up with Rachel. Megan and I have been friends since 2017, and we met on a pretty important night, the night we both met Taylor Swift. As we’ve gotten to know each other better, we learned we have so much in common besides Taylor Swift!
I was so excited to spend Beautycon with friends because I usually go around alone. Since so many booths require you to take photos, it makes it more fun with friends. The lines were long, and I found the show rather disorganized this year, they lined us up to enter in an area that wasn’t really near the entrance, and it made literally no sense. I did not attend any panels this year, because the topics didn’t really interest me. Overall, I enjoyed my experience as always but I wish it were better organized and they got better talent and had clearer meet up schedules. If you guys follow me on social media, you know I love the Pretty Basic podcast and one half of PB was there! I found out about Alisha meetup that morning while at the CVS booth because I was in line and we saw it. If there wasn’t that sign, I wouldn’t have known and I would have missed the opportunity to meet one of my favorite creators! Beautycon had not featured or even included her in the guest lineup…
I heard some people are calling the festival a disaster and I wouldn’t consider it that, but for their 5th year anniversary, I was not impressed. I’ve been coming for a majority of the years. The big part of the event was the Cardi B performance. I respect Cardi but I’m not sure why she was the headliner, because she’s not really in the beauty scene. I also want to note that I left early Sunday and I’m very glad I did because Cardi’s performance got delayed for over 2 hours. Ultimately, I had a great time with friends but I do feel bad that this year was so many people’s first experience with the con because a ton of the larger brand were not there, such as Mac, Covergirl and Anastasia Beverly Hills ( who was a massive hit last year.) Let’s get to the product breakdown, ( I know that’s why you’re really reading this post.)
I was extremely disappointed in the bag this year, I felt as if it was lacking in everything. I was most disappointed to see a majority of it was hair products and as someone with treated hair, I am unable to use any of the products. A majority of these hair products were not designed to work with all types of hair either, so the product were useless to so many people. I’m not sure why they went the hair route because anyone could wear any color eyeliner but not everyone can use the same shampoo.
TBH, I am the most excited about the all-purpose cleanser from Love Beauty and Planet.
Above was the swag bag, which was disappointing but I am not disappointed with the haul of items that I purchased and or received from visiting the brand’s booths. Please note, although I did pay for some of these products, brands were kind enough to gift attendees free products. Here’s everything else I picked up…
Have you guys ever been to Beautycon?
