I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time, today is official premiere of the new Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to chat about their Pirates of the Caribbean x Lorac. I was so excited about this collection launching but A Cruelty Free Me (Patti) was even more excited! We were both ready to purchase the collection as soon as it launched, however we mistook the time for east coast time when it was actually west coast…oops. I purchased the cheek palette as well as the lip duo. Patti has a full review of the eye shadow palette. Be sure to check out her thoughts!
This cheek palette is stunning and it’s the perfect size to travel with. I’ve been spending quite a few nights in NYC lately and this is always in my beauty bag. I love how the packaging for this is reminiscent of the stars and galaxy. It’s so stunning. The colors each have super cute names as well. We have : “Fortune, Lost Soul, Destined, Caribbean, Star Reader and Bold Spirit.” I love all of the shades, so much so it’s hard for me to pick a favorite. I Love Bold Spirit a lot because I’ve never seen anything quite like it.
Let’s get into the actual formula. This is the first time that I’ve tried one of Lorac’s blush/highlighers. I own two of their shadow palettes, which I love deeply. I have Brunching With Lorac and Lorac Mega Pro 3. Their blush palette has a similar formula. It’s as soft and smooth as butter. The formula is powdery and has quite a bit of fallout but it’s easy to clean up. The pigmentation is really great in the highlighters. The blush and the bronze are a little more weak in pigmentation but these still give great light touches of color. Overall, I think this great, if you are a fan of cool tones like myself. If you are someone who prefers warm tones on your cheeks, this might not be a good choice for you. I personally really love this palette and I use it on a daily basis.
I was not happy with the packaging for the lip-duo, it looks and feels cheap to me. It feels very low end. I was not a fan of it. It’s also pretty large. The shade I got was “Risk it all”. The pigmentation is okay, nothing special. I prefer the the lipstick side to the gloss side because I think their lipstick formula is much better. When you put on the lipstick, it’s got a nice satin finish to it but I personally prefer matte, so I put some setting powder over it. The color is a great nude for me and I like. However I think my main problem with this was that I was expecting this to be special in some way but it just wasn’t. It’s totally unremarkable. It’s something I would not purchase again.
This gloss is more suited to a lip topper. I think it looks really great on top of a lipstick on its own, it’s okay but nothing special. There is not much color with this gloss, it is all shimmer, so if you are looking for a strict shimmer shade this is a good option. It reminds me of Tan Lines by Jouer. Overall, this is something that I would not buy again.
Are you excited for the next Pirates of The Caribbean movie?
