Everyone has seen, tested or heard of the famous St Ive’s Apricot Scrub. When I created my first ever skincare routine in high school, this was one of the products that I used, so it holds a special place in my heart. So, when I found that that St. Ive’s was having a pop-up mixing bar in New York City I couldn’t be more excited! The mixing bar is pop-up shop that closes at the end of the month. In case you were curious as to what a mixing bar, it’s exactly what it sounds like, it’s a place where you can mix your own skincare products.
It has such a cool vibe to it and I loved the atmosphere. The walls were covered with products from the brands as well as ingredients used in their products. There were even a few apricot trees around the space.
As you head towards the back of the shop, you are met by an employee in orange who is happy to show you how to work their products and it allows you to sample them, so you can see what sorts of ingredients you want mixed into your own products.
You are able to create a scrub, lotion or both. I am not a lotion person, but I am a scrub person. So I purchased one of their custom face scrubs. There were so many options, it was a bit overwhelming but since I love fruity scents, I opted for a scrub with their mango pineapple fragrance. I also got to pick and choose my exfoliator. You are allowed to pick and choose what level exfoliate you want and I opted for the moderate level. I went for their volcanic sand option because it felt best on my skin.
Once you decide what you would like in your goodies you are given a “prescription” and are asked to pay for your products which cost $12 each. Once you’re all paid up, you head to specific counter and they make your product right in front of you! How cool is that?
Once your product is finished, do not forget to check out their vending machine and photo booth. The vending machine provides you with a travel-sized sample, which is super generous and free!! They also have a photo booth set up, so you can take the perfect photo or else you can take pictures on your own.
This was such a fun experience, if you are looking for something different to do in Soho, he sure to check this out before it’s all gone!
