I don’t often head out to Brooklyn but when I do, I like to turn it into quite the adventure! Recently, I went all the way out to Greenpoint, which an area that was totally new for me. I even took a different subway line to get there, I took the G for first time and it was clean, I was shook! So there’s not as much to do out in the Greenpoint as there is to do in Williamsburg or DUMBO. I headed Brooklyn Bazaar with my friend Noel. If you haven’t heard of it the Brooklyn Bazaar is kind of an iconic spot in the Greenpoint area; they have so many different events and activities they host. The event Noel and I attended was their Oddities flea market. I saw this on suggested events on Facebook and I had to check it out.
There were a ton of quirky items for purchase as well some weird AF stuff, you will not see posted. It was such a weird an fascinating experience. I’ve decided to share with you a photo of my favorite purchase, my snake choker. I’m way obsessed with it, plus its perfect to wear while blasting reputation.
Right next to the Brooklyn Bazaar, there was Polish restaurant called Karczma and of course we went there for lunch. It seemed to be very popular with the locals. It was 2 PM on a Saturday and there was 15-20 minute wait for two! Noel and I waited while looking over the menu, as we looked over the menu, we were both drooling. We both had such a hard time deciding on what we wanted because we wanted everything! I ended up with few appetizers and Noel got the cabbage rolls. Everything was delicious even though there was a wait, it was well worth it.
After we ate our lunch, I discovered that there was cookbooks only store and obviously I had to go! They had a small cafe in the back, so Noel enjoyed a cup of coffee while I shopped around. The shop is called Archestratus. I ended up with a holiday gift for my grandmother, a book on sweet potatoes for my mother ( it’s an inside joke) and I got myself a flavor bible. I forgot to take photos of them for this post, sorry.
Overall, I enjoyed my brief adventure in the Greenpoint area. I will be back to check out more of their restaurants and shops but the focus of this adventure was the Brooklyn Bazaar.
Have you ever explored Greenpoint? If your answer is yes, what is your favorite spot in that area?
