OMG Fenty Beauty is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited. Rihanna has launched one of the most diverse beauty collections to date. She has 40 foundation shades that range anywhere from super light to dark and to everything in between. The line officially came out on September 8th and you bet your ass; that I went to Sephora on the 8th and bought some of her products. Lucky for me, my birthday was the 7th and I was gifted Sephora gift card and it all went towards my Fenty Beauty products.
The products that I purchase from Fenty Beauty were the Killawatt (highlighter duo) in Mean Money and Hu$tla baby, Match Stix Matte Skinstick in Amber and Pro Filt’r (foundation) in 150. I cannot wait to share my thoughts with you. FYI, I want you to know that I was using these during fashion week, which involves a lot of running from spot to spot. So it withstood a lot of blood, sweat and even some tears.
Let’s breakdown the packaging, I love the honeycomb shape that was used throughout out the range. I love how Rihanna thought outside the box to create these products and opted for something different and unique. I know a lot of people are comparing the packaging to Kim Kardashian’s contour kits but the color is similar but a bit different. I really enjoy the color of the packaging. I was unaware of this until I watched Laura Lee’s review of these product that the packaging is actually magnetic. How cool is that? Overall, I loved the simplicity of this packaging and I found it very chic. I did not snap a photo of this but the packaging was graffiti-inspired but when you opened it up, it was very girly. I just feel like that really suits Rihanna’s style and aesthetic.
This is one of those products I was super excited about because we all know there’s nothing I love more then highlighter. The duo comes with two shades (duh) and one is more subtle and the other is more eccentric. When I was in Sephora, the woman who helped me mentioned how you should apply the subtle one and layer the brighter one on top for the full look. Now, I like the formula for this but it’s hard to pick up the color when using a brush. I haven’t quite found the right brush for the full effect but you can easily use your fingers and get plenty of pigmentation. This lasted rather well through the day. Overall I do like the product I just wish a brush picked up better pigmentation.
Match Stix Matte Skinstick
These products are designed for multi-use. You can use them as a concealer or a contour. I’m running low on my contour products, so I opted for a contour shade. The only problem with this product is that the shades runs super cool or warm, there is no in between. I opted for a cooler tone so I don’t look like an orange. The stick is pretty thick, so it’s perfect shape for really getting into the hollows of the cheeks. This shade was perfect for me. Once you apply it, it blends out super well and lasts well. It also is super buildable if you are looking for a Kim K level contour.
Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
I’ve watched so many reviews about this already and I actually disagree with some of them. First let’s talk about how amazing this shade range is and how they featured every shade possible, how incredible is that?! I even met one of the models for models for this collection. How cool is that? Anyways Rihanna covered every undertone possible, so everyone is able to find their shade and I’m no expectation. My shade is 150, which has neutral undertones. This survived fashion week from 10am days to 10pm days, which is incredible and I have to say that I’m extremely impressed by this. The foundation has a matte finish to it and A lot of influencers are saying it’s only medium coverage but I disagree, for me this acted as full coverage and hid my redness. I applied this with a beauty blender as well, anyways this foundation gets a 10 out of 10. Also be sure to set your foundation to make it last longer, I used the Too Faced Born This Way Powder and it’s been a lifesaver.
Overall, the Fenty Beauty Collection is two thumbs up. I love the products but there’s room for improvement like with any collection. Hopefully I’ll figure out which brush best suits the the highlighting duo.
What piece from this collection are you after?
