I am so excited to share today’s post which is sponsored by Covergirl*! Today, we’re talking about the perfect foundation for transition of summer into autumn AKA my favorite time of the year. Why? I’m glad you asked, my birthday is during this transition! My birthday is September 7 and this year, I’m going to be 25 WTF?! During this in-between period, nobody is quite sure of what to wear which makes it an interesting time. To help your skin adjust to the transition, I’ve found the perfect foundation! That foundation is Covergirl’s Vialist Healthy Elixir. Covergirl was kind enough to send the entire shade range to assure that I would able to find my perfect shade.
This foundation has an SPF of 20, which is one of the reasons why it’s perfect for the shift in seasons because it protects you from the sun. The formula is designed to hydrate your skin and provide vitamins needed for a clear complexion. The formula is also completely oil-free, which is lovely for my oily/combination skin friends. This product claims to be full coverage but I found it’s more a of medium coverage foundation but it is buildable, which is nice. It’s also extremely long lasting, in fact it survived 10+ hours of wonderinging about in New York City in 90 degree weather.
The shades all tend to run warm, which made it extremely hard for me to find the perfect shade, however I realized that the 2 lightest shades in the collection worked super well on my skin. When I look for a foundation, I tend to go for neutral shades because they cancel out my redness and even out my skin tone. They have quite a few shades in this collection, but but I would really like them to expand the range to include my more cool-toned shades.
To use this product, I make sure to always prime my face and I tend to use a damp beauty blender to blend out the product. In the package along with the foundations, they gave three style guides how how to wear the product a few different ways. On the back of each of these cards, they broke down the look and how to achieve these looks.
Overall, I liked the foundation but I just wish they had more flattering shades for my skin tone. As I said, I’m able to use the lightest shades and mix them but I wish they would expand this collection to make more accessible those those with different undertones.
*I received this product free of charge for testing purposes, however all opinions are my own.
