On the recommendation of one of my bosses, I decided to check out Insomnia Cookies on my quest for the best chocolate chip cookie in NYC. Insomnia is a chain and they can be found all over the United States.
Insomnia cookies had a small store front and when we arrived the line was practically out the door. There was no where to sit and eat on the inside but they’re were plenty of people snacking on the nearby stairs. The staff was nice and happy to make suggestions but guys, they only have chocolate chunk cookies, not chocolate chip cookies, *le gasp*.
These cookies were nothing special but they were nice and warm. According to the New York Times, the key to the perfect chocolate chip cookie is warmth. Since this cookie was nice and toasty, the pull-apart was extremely satisfying. I wish I recorded it but alas, I didn’t. I can tell you that it was completely life-changing. It was the definition of food porn, tbh. The texture was pleasant and it was a nice and chewy, which is how I prefer my cookies. The flavor was good but it was nothing special. I honestly felt like it was a dud. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t good, it was just okay. I would give it a B. It is somewhere that I wouldn’t go out of my way to purchase a cookie, but if I wanted a cookie and there was one nearby, I would order it.
That being said, they do have a nice variety of cookie flavors. I purchased some other flavors, that were pretty yummy as well. I opted for their M&M as well as their double chocolate mint cookie. Both of these cookies were yummy, but once again nothing extraordinary.
What is your favorite cookie flavor ?
