Brooklyn is not an area I often get out too, so I was super excited to get out there and learn more about the area known as DUMBO (which actually stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass). I was given the opportunity to attend the tour courtesy of Melati Bath and Body. The tour began at 12:30 and went until 3PM. I am someone who believes it is better to be fifteen minute early instead of five minutes late. So I actually arrived in the area about 45 minutes before the tour and decided to explore the area a little bit on my own. Here’s a shot of my views… and a horrible selfie because it was so cold!
Since I arrived early, I decided to find a spot for a quick lunch before the tour and then I came across Shake Shack! Before yesterday I had never stepped foot in a Shake Shack, so I decided today was the day. I ordered their new chicken sandwich and fries of course. It was surprisingly really good. I now understand why the line for it are always so crazy in midtown.
After lunch, it was time to meet my tour guide Dom. He is absolutely incredible and I highly recommend checking out his Made in DUMBO tour as well as his other tours if you are in the New York City area. He was so full of knowledge about the area, it was great! He happy to answer any of the questions that we had. He showed us some awesome Mom and Pop shops throughout the area, and he knew all of the artisans which is super cool! We were able to meet the creators of everything on the tour (except Jaques Torres, however we did get to sample some of his products). This tour included everything from food products to furniture, so there was truly something for everyone. We also did some sight seeing on the way. I’m going to share with you a few photos of areas we went since I don’t want to spoil everything for you. I did snap some shots of the Artisans but as I said, I don’t want to spoil everything for you. Let me know in the comments below if you want to see a haul !
